Interventional Pain Management Physician Joins the Medical Staff at Merit Health Natchez

Dr. Miguel Figueroa Begins Practice This Week
NATCHEZ, Miss. –September 25, 2017 – Interventional Pain Management Physician Miguel Figueroa, M.D., has joined the medical staff of Merit Health Natchez. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Figueroa is excited to be making his home in Natchez.
After receiving his Doctorate of Medicine in 1984 from Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Figueroa completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York and his Residency Training in Neurology at SUNY Downstate, also in Brooklyn. He received fellowship training in Interventional Pain at The University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Medical Center in 2004.
Dr. Figueroa is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Neurology and the subspecialty of Pain Medicine. He is also board certified in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. In addition, he has the competency certificate in Regenerative Pain Medicine from the American Board of Interventional Board of Pain Physicians.
His focus is on various spine and pain issues such as back pain, neck pain and joint and arthritis pain. Treatment options include epidural steroid injections, nerve root blocks, joint injections and facet blocks. He also uses cutting edge regenerative medicine techniques with orthobiologics for musculoskeletal and spine pain. “By listening to my patients and using evidence-based strategies and pain blocking techniques, my goal is to aid in their comfort and ideally restore the patient’s functional activity and quality of life, said Dr. Figueroa. “As a physician, there is nothing more rewarding than helping patients improve their quality of life.”
