Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce Honors Hospital at Annual Gala
NATCHEZ, Miss. –November 29, 2017 —Merit Health Natchez has been named the 2017 Business of the Year by the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes businesses that have more than 25 employees, make a positive impact in the community, and strive for excellence in their industry.
At the presentation of the award on the night of the Chamber’s Annual Gala, Debbie Hudson, President of the Chamber of Commerce, said these words about Merit Health Natchez, “Our two Natchez hospitals were merged in to one three years ago. Even with the complexities and challenges associated with this merger, Merit Health Natchez never forgot the importance of community and the people it serves. Under the leadership of its CEO, Eric Robinson, the hospital and its more than 500 employees are an important and vital part of this community enterprise we call Natchez. Throughout it all, Merit Health Natchez has, through its actions, demonstrated that giving back to the community is a critical part of its DNA. We truly are blessed to have this hospital and its employees, physicians, volunteers and valuable medical services they provide, in our community and are privileged to award them with this honor,” concluded Hudson.
Ms. Hudson acknowledged the hospital’s millions of dollars in renovations, infrastructure improvements and purchases and upgrades in medical equipment. Mentioned also were new physicians recruited in the last year, as well as a Sports Medicine Program that has grown to include all of the local high schools and Alcorn State University. She mentioned the hospitals investment in community sponsored events and the support groups and outreach programs that are offered throughout the year to the community.
